Tim Walker, the Sunday Telegraph Theatre Critic will play the role of God in the hit West End musical, Spamalot.
Tim joins an illustrious line-up of stars who have appeared in the role of God for charity, at a special performance of Spamalot on Monday 6th January 2014 at the Playhouse Theatre. Tim’s chosen charity is the Daily Telegraph Christmas Appeal.
Other stars who have appeared as God (in 2D) for charity include Michael Palin, Hugh Bonneville, Barbara Windsor, Larry Lamb, Bradley Walsh, Simon Callow Christopher Biggins, Brian May and Gary Lineker.
Guy Unsworth, who directed the film sequence, said Tim’s performance was “not a God to be sneezed at.” Earlier this year Tim played a waiter in the musical ‘Top Hat’ at the Aldywch Theatre. Tim said of his new role; “The part is certainly a significant step up – perhaps the ultimate step up!”
Spamalot currently stars CBBC’s Dick and Dom, playing the roles of King Arthur (Richard McCourt) and Patsy (Dominic Wood). While, TV and theatre star Carley Stenson plays The Lady of The Lake.
Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot is a crazy kind-of new musical by Eric Idle. It has an entirely new score for the new production, (well, almost) created by Eric Idle and John Du Prez.
Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and features a bevy (or possibly a brace) of beautiful show girls, witch burning a (cancelled due to health and safety) not to mention cows, killer rabbits and French people. The show features fantastic tunes more magical than a Camelot convention, including He Is Not Dead Yet, Knights of the Round Table, Find Your Grail and of course the Nations Favourite Comedy Song (Readers Digest Poll 2010 – before it went bust), Always Look On The Bright Side of Life.
Spamalot’s current booking period runs until 22 February 2014.
