Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club has been extended several times since it opened in 2021 and is currently booking through to 30th January 2027, with no confirmed end date. I’ll update this page as soon as anything changes at the Playhouse.
For Cabaret, the Playhouse was completely transformed into an in-the-round nightclub space called the Kit Kat Club, with just 550 seats across three levels: Stalls, Dress Circle and Upper Circle.
The Stalls are largely cabaret-style tables right around the stage, putting you in the middle of the action. Table seats directly in front of the stage are the most sought-after and give a genuinely immersive experience.
The Dress Circle sits above the Stalls and, because the show plays in-the-round, still gives you a full view of the action without the immersive table seating.
The Upper Circle is the highest level and the most affordable option. You’ll still see everything thanks to the in-the-round staging, just from further back.
The Playhouse Theatre is on Northumberland Avenue, just off Trafalgar Square. The nearest tube station is Embankment (Circle, District, Bakerloo and Northern lines), just a couple of minutes’ walk away, with Charing Cross also close by.
The theatre first opened in 1882 as the Royal Avenue Theatre, later rebuilt in 1907 and renamed The Playhouse. It hosted George Bernard Shaw’s West End debut with Arms and the Man in 1894, and from 1951 to 1976 it served as a BBC recording studio, where classic radio shows including The Goon Show and Hancock’s Half Hour were recorded. It later returned to theatrical use, staging productions including An Inspector Calls, La Cage aux Folles and Monty Python’s Spamalot.
In 2021 the theatre underwent a dramatic transformation, reopening as the Kit Kat Club with a fully reimagined in-the-round auditorium built specifically for Cabaret, starring Eddie Redmayne and Jessie Buckley. It’s owned and operated by ATG Entertainment.

Worth flagging specifically here: for Cabaret, the venue has been transformed into an immersive, multi-level space with tables and tiered platforms around the edges of the performance area, rather than a conventional single-level stalls. The theatre’s original Upper Circle is still up top too, and it’s a proper climb – around 85 steps from the foyer with no lift – so it’s not the spot for anyone uneasy with heights. If you’d rather stay lower down, ask for cabaret floor tables or the Dress Circle (a much shorter climb), and mention any concerns to the venue’s access team when booking.
