Showbiz legends Des O’Connor and Jimmy Tarbuck will perform together on stage for the first time ever on Sunday 4th October at The London Palladium.
This fundraising performance marks the change of name from the Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund (EABF) to The Royal Variety Charity and brings the two comedy stars back to their spiritual home of the London Palladium. Des O’Connor holds the record of more solo performances at the London Palladium and Des and Jimmy, between them, have performed on stage more than anyone else in the history of the world famous theatre.
Directed by Kevin Bishop and featuring the Ray Monk Orchestra, the entire proceeds of this show will go to the Royal Variety Charity.
The Royal Variety Charity assists those who’ve worked professionally in the entertainment industry and are in need of help. The charity strives to support all those, both young and old, who’ve worked on the stage, in the wings, in front of a camera, or behind it, as well as all those who have spent their lives working in the numerous support industries dedicated to entertainment.
The Royal Variety Charity owns and manages its own residential and nursing care home for entertainers, Brinsworth House in Twickenham, and also offers a nationwide grant scheme to assist those living in their own homes wherever they reside in the UK. The charity not only offers support to those who have found themselves struggling as a result of ill health, financial hardship or old age, but also to talented youngsters from impoverished backgrounds who need assistance to pursue their dreams of entering performing arts education.
The Royal Variety Charity are the organisers and beneficiaries of the annual Royal Variety Performance, which has now been viewed by over 152 million television viewers worldwide, making it the most successful and longest running entertainment show in the world.
