A new dance thriller devised, directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie
Inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

Full casting has been announced for the new dance thriller, Jekyll and Hyde, which opens at The Old Vic on 25 May, with previews from 20 May, for a limited run until 28 May. Devised, directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie, Jekyll and Hyde stars Daniel Collins as Dr Jekyll, Tim Hodges as Mr Hyde and Rachel Muldoon as Dahlia. The cast also includes Ashley Andrews, Joao Carolino, Carrie Taylor Johnson, Anabel Kutay, Ebony Molina, Freya Rowley, Alexzandra Sarmiento, Barnaby Thompson and Jason Winter.
One of the UK’s most innovative theatre choreographers Drew McOnie reimagines Robert Louis Stevenson’s sinister drama in an excitingly physical new dance production with music by Grant Olding.
Jekyll & Hyde has been specially commissioned by The Old Vic as part of its new dance collaboration with The McOnie Company, led by Associate Artist Drew McOnie.
Ashley Andrews plays Steven. For The McOnie Company Ashley appeared in Drunk (Leicester Curve/The Bridewell). Ashley’s theatre credits include of Mack and Mabel (Chichester Festival Theatre and UK Tour), Wicked (Apollo Victoria), Monty Python Live (mostly), One down, five to go (O2 Arena), Chicago (Leicester Curve), 9 to 5 The Musical (UK Tour), Billy Elliot (Victoria Palace), Shoes (Original cast – Sadler’s Wells), Fame the Musical (UK tour) and High School Musical (UK Tour). On screen he has appeared in Bruce’s Hall Of Fame (London Palladium/BBC); Galavant (ABC Television), Avengers: Age of Ultron and the music video for Tom Vek’s Aroused.
Joao Carolino plays Robert. João has recently graduated from Arts Educational, Tring. His theatre credits include The Sound of Music (Leicester Curve) and workshops for Bugsy Malone (Lyric Hammersmith) and Waterbabies (Shaftesbury Theatre).
Daniel Collins plays Dr Jekyll. Daniel has recently appeared as Frank Schultz’ in Show Boat (Sheffield Crucible- Daniel Evans/ Alistair David). For The McOnie Company, Daniel has performed in Drunk (The Bridewell), Slaughter (Place Prize Semi Finalist) and Be Mine (Resolution at the Place). He has performed extensively with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures in The Car Man (Ravenna Festival, Sadler’s Wells), Edward Scissorhands (Sadler’s Wells, UK Tour), Sleeping Beauty (Original cast- Sadler’s Wells, UK and US tour), Nutcracker! (Sadler’s Wells, UK Tour and Trieste), Cinderella (Sadler’s Wells, UK Tour, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Ravenna and Moscow), Play without words (Sadler’s Wells) and Swan Lake (Sadler’s Wells, UK Tour, Athens, Seoul and Tokyo and performances on The Paul O’Grady Show and Matthew Bourne’s Christmas – More 4, 2011). Other credits include Kiss Me Kate (Proms- Royal Albert Hall), Dance:Radio (The Roundhouse and Latitude Festival), On The Town (Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris & The Coliseum) and Sinatra (UK Tour).
Tim Hodges plays Mr Hyde. For The McOnie Company, Tim has performed in Making Midnight (Latitude Festival). For Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures he has performed in The Car Man (Sadler’s Wells), Edward Scissorhands (UK, International Tour and Sadler’s Wells) and Swan Lake (Sadler’s Wells and Tel Aviv). Other credits include Oliver (Curve Theatre), Singin’ In The Rain (Palace Theatre), Dirty Dancing (UK Tour and Dublin Tour), Chicago (Cambridge Theatre, UK Tour, Trieste and Marrakech), Cats (UK and Portuguese Tour), We Will Rock You (Dominion Theatre) and Murderous Instincts (Savoy Theatre). He has also appeared in Sam Sparro’s ‘Black and Gold’ and The Pippette’s ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ music videos.
Carrie Taylor Johnson plays Rose. She has danced with Birmingham Royal Ballet, Ballett am Rhein, Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures for which she’s performed in Nutcracker! and Swan Lake. Previous work for The McOnie Company includes Good Morning Midnight (Jermyn Street Theatre and Latitude Festival), and Shine (Sadler’s Wells). She was a dancer for Andrea Bocelli at the 100th Royal Variety Performance and performed at the National Youth Ballet’s The Coronation Festival.
Anabel Kutay plays Iris. Anabel most recently appeared in The Lorax at The Old Vic. For The McOnie Company she has appeared in Drunk (The Bridewell). For Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures she has toured internationally with Swan Lake, Dorian Gray and Play Without Words.
Her other credits include Guys And Dolls (Chichester Festival Theatre), Macbeth (Bridgehouse Theatre), Chicago (Curve), Pippin (The Menier Chocolate Factory), Dirty Dancing (Aldwych Theatre), Flashdance (UK Tour), Chess (The Royal Albert Hall), Phantom Of The Opera (Her Majesty’s Theatre). Anabel has also danced for stars such as Madonna, Seal, Jessie J, Florence And The Machine and Beyoncé.
Ebony Molina plays Ivy. Ebony was recently seen in The Lorax at The Old Vic for which she was also Resident Choreographer. Her other theatre credits include Singin’ In The Rain (Palace Theatre and Chichester Festival Theatre), Shoes (Sadler’s Wells), Sweet Charity (Theatre Royal Haymarket and Menier Chocolate Factory), Shall we Dance? (Sadler’s Wells), Be Mine for The McOnie Company (Jackson’s Place) and L’Heure Espangnole (ROH). For Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures she has performed in The Car Man (Sadler’s wells), Dorian Gray (Edinburgh Festival and Sadler’s Wells), Nutcracker (Sadler’s Wells) and Edward Scissorhands (US Tour). Ebony was Associate Director for Bugsy Malone (Lyric Hammersmith) and on screen has recently appeared in the Tracey Ullman Show (BBC) and will be in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast due for release in 2017.
Rachel Muldoon plays Dahlia. Rachel has recently appeared in Notre Dame de Paris (South Korea). She has also appeared in Wicked (Apollo Victoria), Notre Dame de Paris (International Tour), Revolution (Haymarket Theatre), Miss Polly Rae and the All New Hurly Burly Show (Leicester Square Theatre & Duchess Theatre), Cats(Channel Islands), Shall We Dance (Original cast, Sadler’s Wells), Grease (Piccadilly Theatre), The Genius of Ray Charles (US Tour), Night of a 1000 Voices (Royal Albert Hall), 80th Birthday Gala (Victoria Apollo), A Royal Gala (Wales Millennium Centre) and Tales of Beatrix Potter (ROH). Her TV appearances include performances on X Factor and Royal Variety performances, as well as with stars such as Kylie Minogue and Alexandra Burke.
Freya Rowley plays Lilly. Freya has recently performed in Tarzan The Musical (Neue Flora Theatre, Hamburg). She has also performed in Best of Musicals (Arena Tour, Germany), Cats (UK Tour), Jack And The Beanstalk (Birmingham Hippodrome), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (UK Tour) and Tarzan The Musical (Stuttgart).
Alexzandra Sarmiento plays Daisy. Alex is currently appearing in In The Heights in the West End. Her other theatre credits include A Chorus Line (West End Revival, Japan, and USA), Rufus Norris’ Cabaret starring Will Young (UK Tour), and Fame (UK Tour). Alex has also worked with Bill T. Jones, Dwight Rhoden, and Desmond Richardson amongst other choreographers. She has been a part of the dance company unTitled, currently headed by Got To Dance winner, Lukas McFarlane, and has also performed with UK Stand Up, Body Politic, Dance Adventures’ Best of British, and at the British Summer Time Festival in Hyde Park.
Barnaby Thompson plays Louis. Barnaby has most recently appeared in Elf The Musical (The Dominion Theatre). His other theatre credits include Oklahoma (National Tour), Cats (European Tour), The Wizard of Oz (Madinat Theatre, Dubai), Legally Blonde (UK Tour), The Band Wagon (Lost Musicals, Sadler’s Wells), Me & My Girl (Sheffield Crucible), The Music Man (Chichester Festival Theatre) and Peter Pan (Birmingham Rep). His television credits include The IT Crowd (Channel 4), The Slammer (CBBC) and he also appeared in the film Beyond the Sea. Music video credits include Paul McCartney’s Brown Eyed Handsome Man and Alexander Wolfe’s Stuck Under September.
Jason Winter plays Charlie. Jason has performed in White Christmas (Pitlochry Festival Theatre), Matilda (Cambridge Theatre), Happy Days (UK Tour), Wicked (Apollo Victoria), West Side Story (Sage, Gateshead), Gypsy (Curve, Leicester), Top Hat (UK Tour), Cats (German Tour), Night of 1000 Voices (Royal Albert Hall, 2010 and 2012), Chicago (Cambridge Theatre and TIM Centre, Istanbul), 42nd Street (Chichester Festival Theatre), Flashdance The Musical (UK Tour), Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs (New Wimbledon Theatre), Cinderella (Milton Keynes Theatre), Centenary Gala (Civic Theatre), An Evening With Val Doonican & Friends (London Palladium) Peter Pan (Key Theatre). Drew McOnie is an acclaimed choreographer and Artistic Director of The McOnie Company. He was nominated for the Emerging Artist Award at the 2014 National Dance Awards for The McOnie Company’s DRUNK! (Leicester Curve/ Bridewell Theatre London). Recent choreography credits include the Oklahoma! (UK tour), Bugsy Malone (the Lyric Hammersmith), In The Heights (Off-West End Award Winner – Best Choreography) and Chicago (Leicester Curve).
