Casting announced for Southwark Playhouse’s THE TEMPEST, adapted and directed by Amy Draper will give out 1,500 free tickets to schools across its three-week run.
Southwark Playhouse’s annual Shakespeare production for younger audiences returns in 2017 with his magical final play. Usurped as Duke of Milan and abandoned with his daughter to die on a deserted island by his brother, Prospero seeks revenge on him by shipwrecking his fleet using his powers. But as the stranded shipmates wander across the island under Prospero’s control, will he really be able to find the resolution he has been hoping for all these years?
Pared back to a thrilling 90-minutes, this production combines dynamic ensemble performances and live music by percussionist Andrew Meredith with the vibrancy of Shakespeare’s language, directed by Off-West End Award nominee Amy Draper and designed by Off-West End award winner Ele Slade.
