JAGGED LITTLE PILL: THE MUSICAL Set To Open In May 2018

The highly anticipated musical Jagged Little Pill, featuring songs from one of the biggest selling albums of the 1990’s by Canadian Singer/Songwriter Alanis Morissette, will make it’s debut at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge Massachusetts in May 2018.

The show will be directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus (Pippin, Waitress, Finding Neverland), with a book by Academy Award winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno). Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt (American Idiot, Next To Normal) will provide orchestrations and arrangements.

The singer, who’s album Jagged Little Pill sold over thirty million copies worldwide said “this team that has come together for this Jagged Little Pill musical is my musical theatre dream come true. The chemistry between all of us is crackling and I feel honoured to be diving into these songs again, surrounded by all of this searing talent. Diablo and Diane are already taking these deeply personal songs that are part of my soul’s marrow to a whole other level of hope, freedom and complexity.”

Alanis Morissette’s debut album (outside of Canada) Jagged Little Pill was released in 1995 and quickly became a beacon of hope to young women (and men) around the world who took comfort in her extremely personal and heart breaking lyrics about life and relationships. The album featured chart hit singles like You Oughta Know, Hand In My Pocket, You Learn, Ironic and Head Over Feet. The album won five Grammy Awards in 1996 (Best Female Rock Vocal Performance, Best Rock Song (both for “You Oughta Know”), Best Rock Album and Album of the Year).

In 2015, a special 20th Anniversary edition of the album was released, featuring unreleased demos and live tracks from that period.
