Achievement In Creating Accessible Theatre Award to be awarded to Park Theatre
This year sees the introduction of the Achievement In Creating Accessible Theatre Award, recognising venues who not only ensure they are fully wheelchair accessible but also provide a good programme of adapted performances for those with disabilities that may mean they are unable to attend regular performances. Wilma said: “I have been doing a lot of fund raising over the past year for the National Autistic Society who work to stage Relaxed/Autism Friendly Performances of Theatre shows around the UK and I feel we should recognise those theatre’s who are excelling in programming fully accessible seasons.”
This year, the Achievement In Creating Accessible Theatre Award will be presented to the Park Theatre, recognising their outstanding work around making theatre accessible to as many people as possible.
Park Theatre is a venue that strives to be welcoming and inclusive to all. Key to this is ensuring that those with any visible or invisible disabilities or impairments are able to attend and enjoy the performances and activities offered in our building. In Spring 2017 they offered a full range of accessible performances, including captioned, audio described, parent and baby, dementia friendly and relaxed.
