Smash hit British musical SIX continues to sell out night after night at London’s Vaudeville Theatre.
Where and when?
The Producers of the hit musical sensation SIX, alongside casting partners Pearson Casting, are thrilled to announce that there will be an open audition process for the 2025/26 West End cast in both London and Salford in June.
The production team are looking for sensational triple-threat singer/actor/dancers required to perform the SIX wives of Henry VIII as they reunite to tell their stories in the form of a pop concert. They must have great contemporary pop voices, good comedic instincts, and be able to interact with an audience well and gigging experience is a plus. Auditionees must be aged 18 or over.
The open call auditions will take place on Wednesday 19th June 2024 in Salford and Friday 21st June 2024 in London, with slots available to be booked online in advance. The open call will begin with a dance call and auditionees are requested to bring a CV and headshot and to wear comfortable clothing and block heels for dance.
SIX the Musical has just extended its reign in the West End at the Vaudeville Theatre through to Sunday 4 May 2025. Over 152,000 seats will be going on sale as part of the new booking extension, including tickets for six new access performance dates and two new sing-along performances.
Who’s in the cast?
The current West End cast is NIKKI BENTLEY (Catherine of Aragon), THAO THERESE NGUYEN (Anne Boleyn), KAYLEIGH MCKNIGHT (Jane Seymour), RECA OAKLEY (Anna of Cleves), INEZ BUDD (Katherine Howard), JANIQ CHARLES (Catherine Parr), GABRIELLA STYLIANOU (Alternate Catherine of Aragon & Jane Seymour/Dance Captain), NAOMI ALADE (Alternate Anne Boleyn & Anna of Cleves), HANNAH LOWTHER (Alternate Katherine Howard & Catherine Parr), MEG DIXON-BRASIL (Super Swing), NATALIE PILKINGTON (Universal Super Swing).
What’s the show about?
Premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017, SIX the Musical has gone on to become a phenomenon around the world, currently playing in London, on Broadway, Chicago, and on tour around Australia/New Zealand and the UK. The London production began at the Arts Theatre before temporarily moving to the Lyric Theatre after lockdown. The show has now settled in its new home, the Vaudeville Theatre.
The 75 minute pop concert (written by two young students Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss) takes a historic look at Henry VIII’s six wives, with each of them having the opportunity to say why they think they had the worst marriage. The winner gets to be the lead singer of the band!
With an all-female on-stage band and all-female cast, Six the Musical really is a show about female empowerment. Reclaiming their her-story and understanding that no one would even remember who Henry was, if not for them.
Playing their final few shows before a brand new cast begin performances next week were Jarnéia Richard-Noel (Catherine of Aragon), Courtney Bowman (Anne Boleyn), Collette Guitart (Jane Seymour), Cherelle Jay (Anna of Cleves), Sophie Isaacs (Katherine Howard) Hana Stewart (Catherine Parr).
As a cast, it really is an ensemble piece with everyone having equal stage time and recognising understudies as part of the extended band. Playing nine shows a week, at any given performance you may see any cast member as they really mix it up – but they are all equally fierce.
The songs are infectious. From the opening numbers ‘Ex Wives’ and ‘No Way’, the audience knows within seconds of the music starting that they are in for a fun, loud and girl power show. From the tender ‘Heart Of Stone’, beautifully sung by Hana Stewart to the techo-rave group number ‘Haus of Holbein’, every song is a banger!
The show feels like it’s the best it’s ever been in its new home at the Vaudeville Theatre and if you haven’t seen it yet then you really are missing out on an amazing show.
