Hadestown has extended its West End run again and again, and is currently booking at the Lyric right through to June 2027, so there’s no “coming soon” to report here just yet.
The Lyric Theatre has four seating levels: Stalls, Dress Circle, Upper Circle and Balcony. With 915 seats, it’s a historic, fairly compact West End house.
The Stalls sit on the ground level and are great if you want to feel close to the action. A handful of seats have restricted views due to pillars supporting the historic structure, but these are usually sold at a lower price.
The Dress Circle is the smallest section in the auditorium but offers fantastic views of the whole stage. Box seats at the sides give a bit more privacy and space for a similar price to the Upper Circle.
The Upper Circle offers great value with fantastic views, especially from the middle of the row. It has a horseshoe layout, so end-of-row seats give a slightly angled view.
The Balcony is the highest level, with a steep rake that keeps sightlines clear, though legroom is tighter than the other sections. It’s the most budget-friendly way to see the show.
The Lyric Theatre sits on Shaftesbury Avenue, right in the heart of Theatreland. The nearest tube station is Piccadilly Circus, just a couple of minutes’ walk away.
The Lyric Theatre opened on 17th December 1888, designed by the prolific theatre architect C. J. Phipps (who also designed the Savoy, Lyceum and Her Majesty’s theatres). It was built by producer Henry Leslie using profits from the hit operetta Dorothy, and its Renaissance-style red brick and Portland stone façade has become a familiar sight on Shaftesbury Avenue.
Over the decades it’s hosted legendary performers from Marie Tempest and Ellen Terry to Laurence Olivier and Ian McKellen, plus long runs of Thriller – Live and a residency of Six. Since February 2024, it’s been home to Hadestown. The Lyric has been owned and operated by Nimax Theatres since 2005.

Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical opened at the Lyric in October 2021, and Six had a residency there around 2020-2021.
