Broadway legend Jessica Vosk revealed on Tik Tok that earlier this week she found a superfan in her dressing room after a performance of Beaches the Musical.
In the video she pleaded “Please do not do that – it might not feel scary to you but it is for us”
Jessica Vosk is an American musical theatre singer best known on Broadway for her run as Elphaba in Wicked (2018–2019). She arrived at the role via the North American national tour, taking over Elphaba in 2017 before transferring to Broadway.
Recently, Jessica has starred in the Alicia Keys musical ‘Hells Kitchen’ and is now playing the iconic role made famous by Bette Midler in the musical adaptation of Beeches.
Seriously people, have some respect. Actors are real people and you do not own them!
@jessicavosk Not trying to rat out anyone just a PSA for theatre fans. #scary #broadway #dressingroom
I wanted to talk about something really scary that happened the other night.
And that is that a superfan made their way backstage to my dressing room after the show, following a group of people who were here for me. I don’t know how that happened. I will figure that out.
But they came up here and I thought they were a guest of the people who I had here. So I was just saying hello to everybody in the room. And these are all people that I’m close with.
So we were talking about the performance and the show and all this kind of stuff. And then 10 minutes in, this person was like, I’m not supposed to be here and went on for a long time about things and said how they got back there.
But it’s really scary when this stuff happens, because then it makes the actor feel put in a really crappy ass position. So I just want to say, please do not do that.
I know that I have not stage doored. This show is a huge lift for me. And I have not had a day off. And I have been going, going, going as much as I can.
And in order for me to actually be here to do this show, of which I’m not off stage for a long time, and be healthy, is to just shut down and go home and go to bed.
And I try and keep up on Instagram messages and all that stuff. But please do not try to sneak backstage to someone’s dressing room at a show.
It’s really scary for us. It might not feel scary to you. But it is for us. So thank you.
