RISING STAR LASHANA LYNCH JOINS ACTRESS ANNIE HULLEY IN DARK COMEDY AT THEATRE503

DOG DAYS

By ANNIE HULLEY Directed by Lisa Cagnacci

Tuesday 25 February – Saturday 22 March 2014

Battersea’s Theatre503 and Anchra Productions are delighted to announce the cast for DOG DAYS, the debut play by Annie Hulley. Annie (who is best known as a stage and screen actress) will play Cate, who she wrote in response the lack of interesting (and comic) roles for older actresses. Lashana Lynch, who starred in the British film FAST GIRLS, joins the cast alongside actors Jonathan Oliver (The ODYSSEY, Factory Theatre) and Peter Bramhill (LIFE FOR BEGINNERS, Theatre503).

What do you do when your world turns upside down? Cate and John’s marriage has hit the rocks. Now they’re trapped in a nightmarish limbo while they struggle to sell the family home. When a rather unusual young couple fall in love with the house, it looks like the answer to their prayers – but be careful what you wish for…

Lashana Lynch recently played a female Tybalt in the National Theatre’s Shed production of ROMEO & JULIET. Her other theatre credits include ROADKILL (UK Tour), SOME LIKE IT HIP HOP (Sadler’s Wells) and SLAVE (Lowry Theatre/House of Lords). For television Lashana recently appeared opposite Sheridan Smith and David Morrissey in THE 7.39 (BBC) and played Belle Newman in the British comedy film FAST GIRLS.

Annie Hulley won a scholarship to study drama at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and since then has worked extensively as an actress performing at the Royal Court, The Bush, Bristol Old Vic, and the Sheffield Crucible. For television she is best known for her role as Karen Moore in ITV’s EMMERDALE and Gwen Loveday in CORONATION STREET. Her recent television credits include DATES (Channel 4), SIRENS (Channel 4), SKINS (E4). Annie’s sitcom was chosen by The Bear Cat for their opening night showcase, with Judy Craymer (MAMMA MIA) mentoring Annie on the Carlton Comedy writer’s course. From there she went on to the Eastenders Academy to develop her skills in television writing, before writing regularly as a story liner for Channel 5’s FAMILY AFFAIRS.
