A Balti full of fun mixed with Kipling’s poems – Tara’s Christmas show in the brand-new Tara Theatre
Hot on the heels of sell-out smash hit successes Bollywood Cinderella and Dick Whittington Goes Bollywood, comes Bollywood Jack. Tara have conjured up another Christmas treat with their traditional Bollywood spin, to enjoy in the brand-new Theatre.
Based on the much loved fairy tale of Jack and The Beanstalk and combined with the poems of Rudyard
Kipling, Bollywood Jack promises to be a unique pantomime experience for all the family, as East meets West with glittering costumes, a side-splitting dame and songs that will have everyone dancing in the aisles.
Sohm Kapila of Bend it Like Beckham and Britain’s Got Bhangra takes the role of Jack, leading a cast of
familiar Tara friends, old and new, including Ralph Birtwell (recently seen in Paradise of the Assassins) as the Dame and Deven Modha (a memorable Cat in Dick Whittington Goes Bollywood) as the Giant.
Bollywood Jack is artistic director Jatinder Verma’s debut production in the new Tara Theatre. His
previous productions include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Black Album at the National Theatre and
Kanjoos The Miser and Macbeth on tour, as well as Tara’s previous pantomime hits Bollywood Cinderella and Dick Whittington Goes Bollywood.
He says ‘Kipling’s Ballad of East and West is the inspiration for our fun-filled Christmas treat, featuring crackling comedy, dance routines, outrageous costumes, magical effects and live music that will have you humming the tunes spiralling around the new Tara Theatre. So, as Kipling says, “put some juldi in it” and book your family ticket! Or, he warns, “I’ll maaro you this minute”!
Tara are connecting the worlds of East and West with gusto for all the family this Christmas in London’s newest theatre – only 10 minutes from Waterloo.
BOLLYWOOD JACK plays at the Tara Theatre from Wed 7 December 2016 – Sat 7 January 2017
