GUYS AND DOLLS, which is currently playing in London’s West End, has announced it will close on 21 August 2016, more than four months earlier than the originally planned date of 7 January 2017.
Hollywood actress Rebel Wilson joined the cast of the show on 21 June playing the role of Miss Adelaide but despite rave reviews of both her performance and the show itself, the show will now close at the end of her scheduled eight week run.
The producers said:
“Having enjoyed rave reviews in the UK, the critically acclaimed Chichester Festival Theatre production of Guys & Dolls will play its final performance in the West End on Sunday 21st August, prior to embarking on an international tour. We are incredibly proud of Guys & Dolls and the way it has delighted audiences at Chichester Festival Theatre, in the West End (Savoy and Phoenix), and at numerous major UK venues. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in the show to date and very much look forward to taking Guys & Dolls to an international audience, opening in Israel in September this year.”
Guys and Dolls returned to London’s West End on 10 December 2015 where it enjoyed a successful twelve week run until 12 March 2016 when it closed as scheduled to make room for Funny Girl. Due to the success of the run, Guys and Dolls instantly transferred to the Phoenix Theatre where Bend It Like Beckham had just closed. It has been playing there ever since.
Guys and Dolls has enjoyed a successful return to the West End and the current UK Tour looks set to continue as planned. It’s a brilliant show and a great production so if you’ve not been to check it out yet, get yourself down to the Phoenix Theatre before 21 August.
