Kim Sheard is a lovely lady, who since the age of 12 has been told she looks like Bette Midler. After years of fighting against the comparison, she has embraced the likeness and learned to love the Divine Miss M.

This week, Kim is performing as ‘Divinely Bette’ upstairs at the gatehouse, as part of the 2012 Camden Fringe Festival. A Bette Midler tribute show she has been working at for years. She first took this to the stage earlier this year at the Brighton Fringe Festival and is now letting London see what she is all about.

I don’t know much about Bette in real life but watching the show you can see Kim has poured her heart and soul into the performance. It is hilariously funny, and the songs are wonderful. I could have happily stayed on for a second act but alas the one hour performance was all there was.

Whether you are a devoted fan of Bette Midler, or just someone looking for a fun night out, Kim Sheard will not disappoint. With her sassy dance moves and wonderful humour, she isn’t pretending she is someone other than who she is. A woman that bears a resemblance to someone and can make it work for her.

This is a great night out where you can feel up close to someone who resembles a star. That is, as far as I see it, what a tribute is all about! Plus, it’s above a Wetherspoons pub so cheap food and drinks before and after is certainly a bonus!
