The Barn Theatre’s MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET will tour 23 UK venues from January to July 2027, opening at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff on 26 January.
On the night of 4th December 1956 (70 years ago this winter) Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley found themselves together at Sun Studio in Memphis for a jam session nobody planned.
Million Dollar Quartet is the musical built around that one extraordinary night, and following its critically acclaimed run at the Barn Theatre in Cirencester and current London season at The Arts at Marble Arch (playing until 6th December 2026, right across the 70th anniversary of that legendary session), it’s now heading out on a major UK tour.
Directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, with a book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux, the tour will be led by stage and screen favourite Darren Day as Sam Phillips, the Sun Records producer who brought all four men together. Expect “Blue Suede Shoes”, “Fever”, “Walk the Line”, “Hound Dog” and a stage full of ego, rivalry and rock ‘n’ roll history in the making.
The tour follows the Barn’s growing track record of sending Cirencester-made work out into the world – its 2023 production of I’m Sorry Prime Minister, I Can’t Quite Remember went to the West End and on tour, and a UK tour of The King’s Speech is also on the way in 2027.
