Baz Bamigboye from The Daily Mail has reported that Andrew Lloyd Webber has written a new song for his 1981 Musical Cats, which is in the process of being turned in to a film.
The song that has been written is for the cat Victoria and there is the possibility of other new songs being written for the adaptation which is set to be developed by Tom Hooper (who directed the recent Les Miserables film adaptation).
Cats opened at the New London Theatre in the West End in 1981 where it ran for 21 years. More recently, the show was revived at the London Palladium for two Christmas seasons in 2014/2015 starring Nicole Scherzinger, Beverley Knight and Kerry Ellis in the lead role. A live stage recording of the show was released in 1998 featuring London’s original Grizabella Elaine Paige.
