West End Wilma, the mother and son theatre blogging duo, are delighted to announce the 5th annual Wilma Awards!
Sunday 4 November 2018 marks exactly five years since the first West End Wilma Awards were held at Freedom Bar, in Soho. The following years were hosted at the Hippodrome Casino and The Delfont Room. This year, in association with Free@LastTVLtd, a special fifth anniversary gala ceremony will be held at the ARTS Theatre in London’s West End with 350 specially invited guests and this year you can come too!
Tickets are on sale today priced £20/£25. 10% of every ticket sold will be donated to the National Autistic Society, to create Relaxed Performances of theatre shows, helping to make theatre accessible to all.
This year will see eleven acts recognised in categories such as Best Understudy, Rising Star and Best Cabaret/Solo Performance. Three brand new award categories are also being introduced for 2018 – Best Solo Recording, Best Supporting Cast Member in a West End Show and Best West End Ensemble Performer.
Shortlisted nominees will be announced on 17 August 2018 and will be chosen by West End Wilma and the reviewing team of over forty writers who cover shows for the website. Public voting will open online 7 September for theatre lovers to vote for their winners.
The special 5thyear anniversary gala will feature incredible performances from previous Wilma Award winners from the past five years (to be announced) and a drinks reception sponsored by crime fiction writer Martina Cole.
