Tall Stories is delighted to announce that their Olivier Award-nominated adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s classic picture book will be soaring into the West End this summer.
The Smeds and The Smoos will run at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue from 18 July – 7 September 2025.
On a far-off planet, Smeds and Smoos can’t be friends. So when a young Smed and Smoo fall in love and zoom off into space together, how will their families get them back? Music, laughs and interplanetary adventures for everyone aged 3 and up, from Tall Stories – the company who brought you The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom live on stage.
Acclaimed theatre company Tall Stories is renowned for its joyful, fun-filled productions for family audiences that have toured all over the world. The company’s adaptations of the best-selling picture books by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler have included productions of ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘Room on the Broom’, ‘The Snail and the Whale’ and ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’.

Tall Stories offers several access performances across the run, which are open to all. These performances include: Audio Described shows for families and children with visual impairments; British Sign Language interpreted shows, where the signer is in costume and integrated into the show moving around the stage; Relaxed Performances designed for families and children with additional needs who require a more relaxed atmosphere; and Touch Tours where audiences can familiarise themselves with the set, props, costumes and characters before watching the show.
