13

[rating=5]

If you’ve ever been 13 then you will be able to relate to this show. It is a hilarious reminder of how hard it is growing up.

In the story we meet Evan Goldman who’s parents have split up as his dad ran off with an air hostess. His mum decides to move them from New York City to Indiana to start a new life for themselves. This couldn’t be worse news for Evan who is preparing for the biggest day of his life… his Bah Mitzvah.

It is a story of how desperation to fit in with the new kids at school can mean that you end up turning on those who are most important to you. Mixed in with hilarious acting, songs and a large dose of Jews!

13 is like High Street Musical but somehow feels so much more grown up and professional. The cast of 13, is outstanding. I was convinced they had been brought over from Broadway for this, as the American accents were impeccable. I was shocked to find out it is an English production!

With music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and a book by Dan Elish, I had high hopes for this show and my expectations were blown out of the water.

The cast of this show are the stars of the future.
