After five years away, the most electric rock ’n’ roll party of the year is coming back to the Arts Theatre in The Blues Brothers: Xmas Special.
David Kristopher-Brown and Joshua Mumby will star as Joliet Jake and Elwood Blues, with Simon Ray Harvey taking on the role of Ray. The company is completed by Sasi Strallen, T’Shan Williams and Hannah Kee as the Stax Sisters.
David Kristopher-Brown was most recently seen in the ensemble of The Phantom of the Opera, where he covered and performed as Piangi. Together with Joshua Mumby, he previously featured in the Blues Brothers in 2012 at the Lowry Theatre and at the Edinburgh Festival. Mumby is currently performing in LP Creatives’ national tour of Hansel & Gretel in the title role, and was recently seen as Henry in An Ideal World (Trafalgar Studios).
Simon Ray Harvey has just finished performing the role of Bobby/Delray in Memphis, and has also recently been seen in Billy Elliot and the UK Tour of Flashdance.
Sasi Strallen’s recent credits include the national tours of Oklahoma!, Fame (Iris), Scrooge(Bess) and 9 to 5: The Musical. T’Shan Williams has just completed the UK Tour of Love Me Tender in the ensemble and understudy Lorraine, while Hannah Kee was most recently seen as Wrench in Starlight Express.
The production will be directed by Joshua Mumby, with choreography from Lily Howkins and musical direction by James Robert Ball.
With the stamp of approval from Dan Aykroyd and Judith Belushi, and featuring new, previously unheard material for Joliet Jake and Elwood themselves, Hartshorn – Hook Productions’ raucous live tribute show is back with a bang.
Backed by the tightest rhythm and blues band in the city, Jake, Elwood and co. tear through the best in American blues, soul and rock ’n’ roll classics including Gimme Some Lovin’, Think, Soul Man, Minnie the Moocher and Jailhouse Rock. So dig out your sunglasses and get ready to shake your tail feather because this supercharged, high-octane show is about to take London by storm.
