On December 9th 2016 the stars of the West End will release the single “If We Only Have Love” to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Childline. The aim is to raise money for the NSPCC helpline and to be in the Christmas Top 40.
The idea for the single came five years ago when former PYE Records/ATV International record executive Robert Page decided that he wanted to help Childline celebrate their 30th anniversary. He chose a song “If We Only Have Love” which is a cover of a powerful song from the 1960s and 70s brought up to date with a pop/gospel flavour by the Producers.
Robert then enlisted a superb team of producers and artists who recorded the song in early November at the famous Dean St Studios in London’s West End. The Producer, Mathew Brind, is no stranger to the Christmas chart having arranged the music for two out of the last three Christmas Number 1s for the X Factor.
The stars of the West End singing on this special release include current Phantom Ben Forster who won the ITV Jesus Christ Superstar series and was Elf at the Dominion last Christmas and Claire Sweeney, who has starred in several West End musicals including Chicago and is also well known for her TV work. Stars from musicals such as Miss Saigon, Beautiful, Mama Mia, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Kinky Boots, Lion King, Aladdin, and Les Miserables also feature. (See attached singers list for full information)
In addition Robert enlisted the famous West End musical director Jae Alexander (who directs Sheena Easton in 42 Street in March 2017) to direct the music, and Annie Skates ( Susan Boyle and many other Number 1 albums/single) to create the vocal arrangements.
Finally, completing the line up are Sylvia Young Theatre School children, who appear regularly in West End musicals and on television, and Chay Logan Webber (WOZ Palladium) who sings with the adult stars and appears in the video with her sister Harris (Les Miserable 21st anniversary cast).
The track will be available for pre-order from 2 December and Download from 9 December from all usual Digital Stores. The video will be on You Tube from 2 December.
