With todays announcement that real life married couple Carrie Hope Fletcher and Joel Montague will play the leading roles in ELF the Musical at the Aldwych Theatre this Christmas, it made me think about other real life couples who have shared the stage together.

Georgina Castle and Simon Lipkin

Georgina Castle and Simon Lipkin met playing Buddy and Jovie in ELF the Musical at the Dominion Theatre in 2022. The pair are due to be married soon.

Georgina has just finished playing Regina George in the West End production of Mean Girls the Musical and Simon is currently playing Fagin in the West End revival of Oliver! at the Gielgud Theatre.

Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney

Recently engaged Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney take to the London stage next month as Sally Bowles and the Emcee in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. The pair first got together during the original London production of Hadestown at the National Theatre and transferred with the show to the West End and then Broadway.

Eva recently played Sally Bowles in the Broadway production of Cabaret alongside Orville Peck but this will be the first time she has performed this show with her fiancee.

Eva Noblezada shot to fame at the age of 18 when she was selected to play the role of Kim in the West End revival of Miss Saigon.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have been married since 1997. In 2020 they starred together in the Broadway revival of Plaza Suite which was due to transfer to the West End but was postponed because of the pandemic. In 2024 the show ran at London’s Savoy Theatre starring the married couple.

Amber Davies and Ben Joyce

Amber Davies and Ben Joyce met whilst performing in Back To The Future the Musical in London’s West End in 2022.

Amber found fame on the TV show Love Island and proved critics wrong when she wowed audiences in the London production of 9 to 5 the Musical in 2019. The trained theatre performer has gone on to have a successful musical theatre career having just finished starring in The Great Gatsby at London’s Coliseum.

Amber also has a really wonderful podcast called Call To Stage in which she interviews the creme de la creme of UK theatre performers.

Ben most recently appeared in the concert version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton

Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton are currently starring together in the UK tour of 2:22 A Ghost Story. The couple met on the TV show Dancing On Ice where Stacey was the celebrity paired with trained dancer Kevin.

Stacey has previously appeared in the West End production of 2:22 A Ghost Story and Kevin has starred in UK tours of Strictly Ballroom and Chicago.

Kevin’s sister Joanne Clifton (also a star from Strictly) is currently playing the role of Polly in the West End production of Fawlty Towers the Play which will then head out on tour.

Sharon Sexton and Rob Fowler

Sharon Sexton and Rob Fowler met in 2017 whilst playing Falco and Sloane in Meatloaf’s Bat Out Of Hell the Musical in London’s West End. The couple have continued to play the roles ever since, currently finishing up the 2025 UK tour.

Imelda Staunton, Jim Carter and Bessie Carter

Imelda Staunton and Jim Carter met in 1983, starring together in Guys and Dolls. Earlier this year, Imelda starred alongside her daughter, Bessie Carter, in Mrs. Warrens Profession at the Garrick Theatre.

Ben Platt and Noah Galvin

Broadway stars Ben Platt and Noah Galvin got married last year and both played the role of Evan in Dear Evan Hansen (although not at the same time).

Christina Bianco and Billy Ernst

Christina Bianco met husband Billy Ernst whilst on the US tour of Dora the Explorer. Christina played Dora and Billy played Benny the Bull!

Since moving to London, Billy (a trained Veterinary Nurse) started his business Healthy Tailz – Physio For Dogs doing home visits for those whose pooches require physiotherapy and hydrotherapy.

Christina Bianco is known for her musical comedy impressions and viral You Tube videos but is also an acclaimed musical theatre actress having played the title role in Funny Girl, Glinda at the London Palladium version of The Wizard of Oz and most recently the Narrator in the UK tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
