The Return of the King! Comedian Joe Pasquale returns to Monty Python’s Spamalot at The Playhouse Theatre playing the role of King Arthur from 20th January 2014
Actor and comedian Joe Pasquale is now galloping back onto the West End stage (to the sound of banging coconut shells) as he reprises his much loved role of King Arthur in Monty Python’s Spamalot at The Playhouse Theatre London from Monday 20th January 2014.
With his hilarious performances as James Bond and Flash Gordon in the final series of ITV1’s Dancing on Ice, Joe yet again proved to the nation that he’s a natural entertainer and ITV’s loss is Spamalot’s gain.
Having first played King Arthur for a successful six week run last summer, alongside Bonnie Langford who starred as The Lady of The Lake, Joe is pleased as punch to be back in the role (he would be pleased as Holy Grail Ale, but it’s not really got the same ring to it) and will now star with actress, Carley Stenson, who has played The Lady of The Lake since the start of November 2013.
Joe says: ‘I loved my time as playing King Arthur in Spamalot last year. I am very excited to have been asked to return. I will be joining a fantastic cast and can’t wait to get started later this month.’
He was originally able to don the King’s crown after being reunited with his former Pirates of Penzance co-star, Bonnie Langford, via Twitter and came to see her as The Lady of The Lake. She thought he’d make a great King Arthur and so put the idea to the show’s producers. With his effervescent personality, squeaky vocal range and energetic nature, Joe was an instant hit with audiences and the cast alike.
As one of the country’s most popular funny men for over 20 years, Joe has appeared on stage in six Royal Variety Performances, and appeared in the UK Tour of Mel Brooks’ ‘The Producers’ as Leo Bloom, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and Tom Stoppard’s ‘Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead’. His numerous live stand up shows included the 1996 £1 million selling tour ‘Live and Squeaky’. Most recently, Joe travelled the country last autumn when he played legendary super-sleuth Sherlock Holmes, in ‘Ha, Ha, Holmes’ and with another live stand up tour, (the aptly named Joe Pasquale Summer 2013 Tour).
On screen Joe Pasquale has voiced characters for the Hollywood films ‘Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties’ and ‘Horton Hears A Who!’ while his TV roles have included hosting ITV1’s ‘The Price Is Right’ and ‘An Audience With Joe Pasquale’, as well as guest presenting Channel 4’s ‘The Paul O’Grady Show’.
Joe won the 2004 series of ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ and also made it to round six of ITV1’s ‘Dancing on Ice’ in early 2013, before returning to ‘Dancing on Ice’ this month for the final series.
