Catch the Kiss of the Red Menace at Edinburgh Fringe Festival at GHQ 19th-25th August.
Kerry Jo Hodgkin is Melody La Rouge, the saucy cabaret singer who can currently be found running around the UK fringe festivals in the red leather high heel boots and black corset! Her show is an hour long Kander and Ebb tribute with some of their best loved songs.
Kander and Ebb are multiple Tony award winning songwriters who have been responsible for some of musical theatre’s best loved songs and shows (Chicago, Cabaret, New York, New York and Kiss of the Spider Woman).
Camden Fringe Festival is her 6th stop on the tour, having already played in Brighton, Oxford, Manchester, Buxton and Bedford since May this year.Melody La Rouge gave her final performance last night at The Tristan Bates Theatre in London’s Covent Garden. A tough place to play, being in the middle of the West End and just around the corner from one of the biggest musicals of the moment Matilda. The show wasn’t a sell out but Melody La Rouge still sung her heart out (and boy can she sing)!
Highlights of the night were the well known ‘Cabaret’, ‘When You’re Good To Mamma’ and ‘All That Jazz’ but also songs I hadn’t heard before and enjoyed ‘Chief Cook and Bottle Washer’ (from The Rink) and ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ (from the show with the same name).
Melody La Rouge is fiesty, busty, ballsy and can sing the roof off of any theatre. If you like jazz and cabaret, go check out her show Kiss of the Red Menace at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It’s a PBH Free Fringe production so just turn up and pay what you want after!
