Broadway production of COME FROM AWAY to be filmed and released this September

According to reports, the hit Broadway and West End musical, Come From Away, is set to be filmed live on stage and released in September 2021.

A movie version of the musical was rumoured to be in the works in 2019 and was due to be made as realistic as possible, using real people and filming in the town of Newfoundland, Canada, where the real story took place. Apparently this concept has now been replaced by releasing a filmed version of the stage show.

The filmed performance of the Broadway production (to be filmed at the Gerald Schoenfield Theatre) is due to be released in line with the twentieth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks which occurred in New York City on September 11 2001.

Come From Away will be the second professionally filmed stage show to come out of Broadway since the pandemic, following Diana The Musical which is due to be released on Netflix ahead of its official opening on Broadway later this year.

It is not yet clear on which platform the recording will be released on or who will feature in the cast.

The West End production of Come From Away is due to reopen at London’s Phoenix Theatre on 22 July 2021. More info & Tickets.
