Young Musical Theatre hopeful Sam Wearing proves hard work and determination pay off

thumbnail_5(1)Sam Wearing graduated from the BRIT School back in 2012 and has been auditioning for musical theatre courses ever since. Never giving up hope and knowing he had to keep trying every way he could, he has consistently posted his own versions of musical theatre songs on his YouTube channel (more than 135 to date) which has gained him more than 3,500 YouTube subscribers and 11,500 Twitter followers.

In December 2015, Sam was given the opportunity to audition for LAINE Theatre Arts and after four years of trying, was finally offered a place on the course he had been dreaming of but, as with most young performers there was one problem. The £17,000 per year tuition fees plus living and accommodation expenses made it impossible for this young hopeful to accept.

Sam made a further application to the college for help with funding his course and in April 2016, after auditioning in front of Betty Laine herself, she offered him a fully paid scholarship for his training (including living expenses).

After four years of never giving up on his dreams and always believing it would happen, Sam has managed to build up a very well respected YouTube channel (with more than half a million views) which no doubt helped secure his scholarship by showing his determination to the cause.

Before starting his three year musical theatre training course in September 2016, Sam this morning announces he will presents his Debut Solo Concert ‘An Evening with Sam Wearing’ in his home town of Swindon (Arts Centre) on Saturday 3rd September 2016, 7.30pm.

Sam’s debut solo concert will be a memorable evening as he takes the audience on his personal journey of highs and lows using an array of musical theatre classics, pop songs and even a few musical surprises along the way. Sam who has over half a million views on his YouTube channel, has developed a collection of material that he is excited to share with a local audience. Not only will you be able to experience Sam’s incredible vocals throughout the concert but he will also be sharing stories of his performing career so far. Highlights include performing solo at the O2 Arena in ‘Voice In A Million’ and also performing with London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall.

Sam will be accompanied on Live Grand Piano by Musical Director Ben Kennedy. Ben has worked in the industry for many years building up an admirable reputation with many credits. These include CATS West End/European Tour, WICKED West End, FOOTLOOSE UK Tour, WE WILL ROCK YOU UK Tour and HAIRSPRAY. Ben will be working closely with Sam to create some personal arrangements which are guaranteed to create some mesmerizing moments.

This one off performance will no doubt be a truly special evening taking you through all kinds of emotion and leave you feeling astonished at this local talent who has an incredibly bright future ahead of him.

Make sure you do not miss out on what promises to be a spectacular evening!

In an age where crowd-funding is becoming increasingly more popular for people to ask strangers to donate money to their various causes (some very worthy and some no so worthy) we are seeing more and more people putting their hand out on social media to ask people to donate money towards their drama school fees. Sam Wearing is an example of a young man who has not gone down this route but has never given up on his dreams and WORKED to make them come true. And as they say, if you work hard and never give up on your dreams, they can come true. You might have to work for them but they can happen and I couldn’t be happier that for Sam they have.
