New cast announced for TITANIQUE at the Criterion Theatre

New York’s Titanique brings queer joy to London’s Criterion Theatre.

Who’s in the London cast of Titanique?

From Tuesday 15 July, Astrid Harris will take over the role of Céline Dion. Astrid has been performing as Celine to great acclaim in the French production of the show and now joins the West End company following Lauren Drew’s Olivier Award-nominated performance in the role.

From Tuesday 22 July, Jenny O’Leary (We Will Rock You) will begin performances as Molly Brown, having also performed the role in the production in Paris. Jenny takes over as maternity cover for Charlotte Wakefield.

Astrid and Jenny join the rest of the cast on the West End’s ship of dreams: Luke Bayer as Jack, Darren Bennett as Victor Garber / Luigi, Richard Carson as Cal, Hiba Elchikhe as Rose, Carl Mullaney as Ruth, Tosh Wanogho-Maud as The Iceberg, Adrianne LangleyMadison Swan and Rodney Vubya as on-stage background vocalists, as well as offstage understudies Freddie King and Caitlin Tipping.

Who is the Creative team of Titanique?

Co-written by Tye Blue, Marla Mindelle and Constantine Rousouli, Titanique celebrated its Off-Broadway premiere in June 2022 at Asylum Theater, starring the musical’s co-authors Mindelle and Rousouli as Céline Dion and Jack Dawson.  After several sold-out extensions, the musical transferred to the Daryl Roth Theatre in November 2022.

The set is designed by Gabriel Hainer Evansohn & Grace Laubacher,  costumes are designed by Alejo Vietti, the lighting designer is Paige Seber, the sound designer is Lawrence Schober, the casting director is Pearson Casting CDG, musical supervision, orchestration & arrangements are by Nicholas J Connell, choreography is by Ellenore Scott and Titanique is directed by the co-author Tye Blue (RuPaul’s Drag Race).

What is the story of Titanique?

Want to find out what really happened to Jack and Rose on that fateful night?

Just leave it to Céline Dion to enchant the audience with her totally wild take, recharting the course of Titanic’s beloved moments and characters with her iconic song catalogue.

Sailing on fierce powerhouse voices in show-stopping performances of such hits as My Heart Will Go On, All by Myself and To Love you More – backed by a full live band – Titanique is a one-of-a-kind theatrical voyage bursting with nostalgia, heart and campy chaos.

Is Titanique the Musical good?

★★★★

Yes – I loved it! The most uplifting celebration of queer joy in the West End right now. A parody musical about the sinking of the Titanic, as told by Celine Dion, featuring some of her biggest hits (and drag queens) – I defy anyone to not have the best night out as this show.

The casting for this show is insane – featuring more West End stars than you can shake a life jacket at.

Lauren Drew is hilariously perfect as our storyteller, Céline Dion. Jordan Luke Gage looks like he is living his best life as Cal, Rob Houchen smoulders his way through sensationally as Jack and Charlotte Wakefield is iconic as the unsinkable Molly Brown. When the cast was first announced and I saw Layton Williams would be playing ‘The Iceberg’ – I knew we would be in for a treat and he did not disappoint.

It’s a bit long at 100 minutes with no interval and there is a good ten minutes that could easily be cut, or why not have two acts? It’s a fun, party show and it seems odd to not want to give audience members the chance to go back to the bar.

Titanique is hilariously camp in every way. Near, far, wherever you are – get yourself a ticket onboard, where the only danger you’ll be in is the risk of dying from laughing.
