Steve Coogan and Giles Terera currently star in the first ever stage adaption of Stanley Kubrick’s iconic and timeless classic Dr. Strangelove at the Noël Coward Theatre in London’s West End.
National Theatre Live today announces the stage adaptation will be released to cinemas next year. This explosively funny adaptation will hit the silver screen worldwide from 27 March 2025.
Where and when?
Performances at the Noël Coward Theatre will now finish on Saturday 25 January 2025 before a limited engagement at Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from Wednesday 5 – Saturday 22 February 2025.
Who’s in the cast?
Steve Coogan landed his first job as an impersonator and comic on the satirical TV series Spitting Image.
Whilst appearing on various shows on BBC Radio 4, the iconic British institution that is Alan Partridge was born. The character moved from radio to TV and over the years has picked up a number of BAFTAs and British Comedy Awards.
In 2019 Alan returned to BBC One in This Time With Alan Partridge to rave reviews and was nominated for Best Comedy Programme at the Broadcast Awards. This Time With Alan Partridge was back on our screens in 2021 for series 2.
Giles Terera will play the role of General Buck Turgidson. Further casting is yet to be announced.

This jet-black comedy masterpiece, about a rogue U.S. General who triggers a nuclear crisis, is brought to the stage by acclaimed, BAFTA and Emmy Award winner Armando Iannucci and Olivier Award winner Sean Foley in an explosively funny satire of mutually assured destruction. Sean Foley will also direct.
What’s the show about?
Dr. Strangelove is based on the film about what could happen if the wrong person pushed the wrong button and it played the situation for laughs. U.S. Air Force General Jack Ripper goes completely insane, and sends his bomber wing to destroy the U.S.S.R. He thinks that the communists are conspiring to pollute the “precious bodily fluids” of the American people.
